Get ready to roll (literally!) with this Vietnamese Spring Rolls (Chicken Nem) recipe! These Vietnamese spring rolls are about to become your new culinary obsession. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavourful chicken and veggies, they're like a party in your mouth!

We like to get you in the mood to cook so set your speakers to play  Jerusalema

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken breast (because chicken is the star of this roll)
  • 1 package rice paper wrappers (the cloak for our flavour superheroes)
  •  1 cup shredded carrots (for a pop of colour and crunch)
  • 1 cup bean sprouts (because we're all about that fresh vibe)
  • 1 cucumber, julienned (to keep things cool and crispy)
  • Fresh mint and cilantro leaves (the herbalicious duo)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (because garlic makes everything better)
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce (the secret umami weapon)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (to balance out the flavours)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (for a little kick)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying, because crispy is king)
  • Hoisin sauce or sweet chili sauce (for dipping, because sauce makes everything saucier)

How to Prepare:

  1. Let's kick things off by cooking the chicken. Grill, bake, or pan-fry until it's cooked through and slightly golden. Think of it as prepping your flavour canvas!
  2. Once the chicken is cool enough to handle, shred it into bite-sized pieces. It's like creating tiny chicken confetti – let's get this party started!
  3. In a bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, shredded carrots, bean sprouts, julienned cucumber, minced garlic, fish sauce, sugar, and ground black pepper. Toss it like you mean it!
  4. Time to assemble our flavour-packed rolls! Dip a rice paper wrapper in warm water until it's soft and pliable. Place it on a flat surface and add a generous scoop of the chicken mixture.
  5. Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then roll it up tightly like a burrito. It's like tucking our flavour superheroes into their cozy flavor cloaks!
  6. Heat up some vegetable oil in a pan and fry the rolls until they're golden and crispy. We're aiming for crunch perfection here!
  7. Once they're fried to crispy perfection, remove the rolls from the pan and let them cool slightly. A burned tongue is a culinary rite of passage, but let's try to avoid it this time.
  8. Serve your Chicken Nem with a side of hoisin sauce or sweet chili sauce for dipping. It's like giving your rolls a flavour-packed swimming pool to dive into!

There you have it, folks! Vietnamese Spring Rolls (Chicken Nem) that's as fun to make as they are to eat. Grab your dipping sauce, embrace the crunch, and let the flavour party begin!
