Rugby World Cup 2027 Australia

Rugby World Cup 2027 - 1 Oct – 13 Nov 2027

Already the 11th edition! In 2027, Australia will host the men's Rugby World Cup for the first time since 2003. This reimagined format features 24 teams competing over six weeks from 1 October to 13 November  across multiple cities. It promises to be a thrilling global event as the world's best teams vie for the Webb Ellis Cup on Australian soil.

The new format will feature six pools of four teams, with a round of 16 added prior to the quarter-finals. And instead of seven weeks, it will now take place in six weeks,  and respects the same minimum number of rest days between matches as at France 2023.
Australia will be the first nation to host the tournament 3 times, having previously co-hosted with New Zealand in 1987 and held it exclusively in 2003

The rugby games will take place in  Australian Capital Cities.

There are twelve automatic qualifiers. These are the teams who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their respective pools at Rugby World Cup 2023. The table also shows the ten regional qualifiers. This leaves two final places which will be determined via interregional play-off matches.

A new annual expanded Pacific Nations Cup competition will commence in 2024, featuring Canada, Fiji, Japan, Samoa, Tonga and USA with home fixtures and Japan and USA alternating as finals hosts, guaranteeing a minimum of three additional matches a year for these nations in addition to the new international competition and cross-over fixtures.
Already qualified are South Africa, Japan, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Wales, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina.

Australia is the perfect host country. We warmly welcome you to these exciting games, beautiful beaches, deserts and stunning cities.
