Finnair Elevates Nordic Connectivity

Finnair Elevates Nordic Connectivity :Finnair Launches Alta Flights and Turns the Nordic Region Into One Big Easy-Breezy Adventure

Grab your fleece-lined bucket hat and your best “I’m definitely not lost” hiking face — Finnair is making your summer 2026 plans very Nordic and very accessible.

The airline is going full Viking this season, launching a brand-new route to Alta in Northern Norway — aka the land of the Northern Lights, jaw-dropping fjords, and the kind of crisp Arctic air that makes you rethink your life choices (in a good way). Flights will run five times a week from March 29 to October 22, with a pit stop in Kittilä and a cozy 68-seat ATR plane that’s basically your flying sauna-on-wings (minus the actual steam, thankfully).

Say Hello to Alta, the Coolest Place You’ve Never Been

Alta is one of those places where cruise ships float by, reindeer might casually cross the road, and the skies occasionally explode with green and purple lights. It’s kind of magical. And now, with Finnair’s new direct route, you can be there faster than you can say “where’s my wool base layer?”

But Wait, There’s (So Much) More

Finnair isn’t just stopping at Alta. They’re turning the whole Nordic region into a perfectly scheduled IKEA assembly of adventure. Here's what’s in store:

  • Tromsø: Getting five weekly flights via Rovaniemi because apparently, the Arctic Circle needs its own air highway now.
  • Ivalo to Kirkenes: Jumping up to five weekly flights (that’s two more than last summer — you're welcome, spontaneous snow chasers).
  • Stockholm & Copenhagen: Both adding seven extra flights per week, so you’ll have more chances to mispronounce “Smørrebrød” and still make it back in time.
  • Reykjavik: Getting two extra flights, because Iceland’s geysers don’t visit themselves.
And for the Summer Vibe Seekers...

Summer holiday routes are back in full swing:

  • Billund (Denmark) – 8 weekly flights (Legoland here we come!)
  • Visby (Sweden) – 7 weekly flights (Vikings and sunshine? Sold.)
  • Bodø (Norway) – 6 weekly flights (mountains, sea, and general "wow")

Oh, and Mariehamn in the Åland Islands is scoring two extra weekly flights, because everyone deserves a shot at sipping coffee on a rock in the middle of the Baltic.

Finnair Elevates Nordic Connectivity

Finnair’s also upping its spring skiing game. Ivalo will see up to 17 weekly flights, and Kittilä up to 23, which is basically Finnair yelling “don’t put those skis away yet!”

So if you’ve ever wanted to hop from Copenhagen to Reykjavik to Lapland without breaking a sweat (or losing your luggage), summer 2026 is your Nordic moment. Finnair’s basically stitching the whole region together with fluffy scarves and flight schedules.

Ready to chase midnight sun, sip gløgg, or just finally learn how to pronounce “Ærø”? Good. Finnair’s got your boarding pass.
