A Journey Along the Botero and Renaissance Route

A Journey Along the Botero and Renaissance Route

If you like your art big and bold, then Medellín’s got just the day out for you. Welcome to “A Journey Along the Botero and Renaissance Route”, where oversized statues, street art, and stories of transformation take center stage—and yes, there’s food involved too, because this is still Colombia.

First Stop: Botero, Baby
The day kicks off with a private visit to the Museo de Antioquia, the proud home of Colombia’s most iconic artist: Fernando Botero. You know the one—he paints people and animals with a little extra... personality. Some might say round. We say fabulous.

An expert guide will walk (and wobble?) you through the masterpieces and the meaning behind Botero’s famously full-figured art. It's intimate, it's fascinating, and honestly, it's kind of empowering. By the end, you'll be considering a career in sculpture—or at least trying to sneak a few more empanadas without guilt.

Plaza Power and Street Art Swagger
Next up, it’s off to Plaza Botero, where his sculptures live large and proud in the heart of Medellín. Once an area people avoided, this square is now a buzzing cultural hub, proof that even cities can have glow-ups.

But the real surprise is Comuna 13. Once synonymous with conflict, it’s now basically the coolest open-air art gallery you’ve ever seen. You’ll meet local muralists and community leaders who turned struggle into spray paint, and concrete into canvas. It’s inspiring, emotional, and your camera roll will be full before you even realize it.

Also, if you’ve never danced in a stairwell covered in graffiti while a 12-year-old breakdancer steals the show—well, now’s your chance.

A Dinner That Deserves a Frame
And to top it all off? A Botero-inspired dinner in a heritage home, where Paisa cuisine gets a glow-up of its own. Think traditional dishes—but make them artsy. It’s creative, delicious, and just fancy enough to feel like you’re in an indie film.

The Bottom Line? This is more than just an art tour. It’s a celebration of creativity, resilience, and a city that knows how to reinvent itself—with a little flair, a lot of paint, and just the right amount of chicharrón.
