Eurowings launches first-ever Berlin-Kittilä route

Eurowings launches first-ever Berlin-Kittilä route

Berliners, get ready to trade Berghain for a blizzard. Starting January 31, 2026, Eurowings is offering a direct weekly flight from Berlin to Kittilä, Finland—a place where the snow falls with purpose, the saunas never stop steaming, and Santa Claus is basically the mayor.

For the first time ever, you’ll be able to fly nonstop from the German capital to the frosty heart of Lapland. The route will run every Saturday until March 21, giving you a limited-time offer to swap smog and street noise for silence, snow, and an ungodly amount of reindeer-themed souvenirs.

So... Where Exactly Is Kittilä?

Think of it as Finland’s snow-drenched answer to Narnia—if Narnia had ski resorts, reindeer stew, and a surprisingly efficient airport. Located in Finnish Lapland, Kittilä is your entry point to Levi, one of the country’s top winter destinations. It’s where northern lights do nightly guest appearances, and snowmobiles are considered casual transportation.

This isn’t your average “pop to the Alps” ski break. It’s a full-on Arctic experience, complete with dogsleds, frozen forests, and more pine trees than you can shake a selfie stick at.

The Chill Route You Didn’t Know You Needed

Up until now, getting to Kittilä from Berlin required the logistical finesse of a military operation—multiple connections, long waits, and probably a pack of emergency cookies. But Eurowings is cutting through the chaos with one direct hop aboard an Airbus A320.

No more layovers. No more confusing Finnish bus schedules. Just pack your thermals, hop on board, and you’re in Lapland by dinnertime. (Which, by the way, might include a steaming bowl of something Rudolph-adjacent. Don’t ask too many questions.)

From City Clubs to Cabin Vibes

Eurowings knows a thing or two about snow. They already connect Germany to northern Finnish destinations like Rovaniemi, Ivalo, and Kuusamo. This new Berlin–Kittilä flight shows they’re doubling down on the “frozen fairy tale” segment of their route map.

Why? Because according to recent research (funded by none other than Visit Finland), millions of Germans are keen to embrace their inner Arctic explorer over the next few years. That’s a lot of glögi, wool socks, and Instagram photos of snowy feet by fireplaces.

Lapland Is for Everyone (Even the Cold-Averse)

Not a fan of skiing? Not a problem. Kittilä offers more than slopes and sled dogs. Picture this: you, wrapped in a blanket, sipping something hot and cinnamon-spiced, staring out the window of a glass igloo as the aurora swirls overhead. It’s peak hygge with a hint of adventure.

There’s also the very real possibility of bumping into Santa Claus—his village is just a couple hours away. If you’ve got kids, take them. If you are a kid at heart, even better.

Fly Now or Forever Hold Your FOMO

If you’ve been fantasising about a proper winter getaway (the kind with actual snow instead of Berlin slush), this is your chance. But with only one flight a week, those seats are going to disappear faster than daylight in a Finnish February.

So go ahead—book the flight, dig out your fluffiest hat, and prepare to experience winter the way it was always meant to be: magical, remote, and full of excuses to drink hot things next to a fire.
