Austrian Airlines Expands Summer 2026 Lineup: Sun, Snow, and Serious Vacation Temptation
Grab your Sacher-Torte and buckle up - Austrian Airlines just revealed its Summer 2026 schedule, and it’s so jam-packed with new destinations that your suitcase might start quivering in anticipation. From March 29 to October 24, 2026, Austria’s flag carrier will fly to 133 destinations worldwide — that’s 113 short- and medium-haul routes, 20 long-haul ones, and roughly 133 opportunities to say, “Sorry boss, can’t make that meeting — I’m in the Azores.”
Seven Shiny New Destinations
Because “new year, new flight plan” sounds way better than “new gym routine,” Austrian is adding seven fresh getaways to the lineup:
- Ponta Delgada, Azores – Weekly from late June to early September. Expect volcanic landscapes, whale watching, and that smug feeling of being “off the beaten path.”
- Alicante, Spain – Twice weekly. Beaches, sangria, repeat.
- Bilbao, Spain – Twice weekly. Modern art, mouthwatering pintxos, and minimal guilt about both.
- Bastia, Corsica – Twice weekly. Ideal for indecisive travelers torn between France and Italy.
- Ohrid, North Macedonia – Twice weekly. A storybook lake town so gorgeous you’ll wonder if it’s CGI.
- Mytilene, Lesbos, Greece – Weekly on Mondays. Because Mondays need tzatziki.
- Bergen, Norway – Three times weekly from June to September. Fjords, cool air, and not a sunburn in sight.

The Mediterranean Comeback Tour
If your 2026 vision board says “somewhere warm with olives,” Austrian’s got you covered. They’re boosting flights to everyone’s favorite Mediterranean escapes with:
- +5 to Barcelona (because tapas are a lifestyle),
- +3 to Málaga (for sunshine and slow-motion beach walks),
- +1 to Funchal and Tenerife (because volcanic islands deserve attention too).
All in, Austrian now serves 21 Greek and 11 Spanish destinations. Even Milan Linate joins the summer schedule — because Milan’s fashion clearly doesn’t take holidays.
Cool Is the New Hot
If sweating through linen isn’t your idea of fun, Austrian’s leaning into the “coolcation” trend — travel that’s chill in every sense. Norway’s the star of the show with 13 weekly flights (up from 9) to Oslo, Tromsø, the Lofoten Islands, and Bergen. Also back for Summer 2026: Edinburgh, where castles meet bagpipes, and Sylt, Germany’s answer to the Hamptons (but with pretzels).
Long-Haul Legends
Of course, Austrian hasn’t forgotten the big adventures. The long-haul lineup includes:
- Africa: Cairo, Mauritius, Marrakech
- Asia: Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai, Malé
- North America: Boston, New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Montreal
Basically, if you spin a globe, Austrian’s probably on it.
More Planes, More Possibilities
To handle the summer surge, Austrian’s bringing in two extra aircraft through its partner airBaltic — ensuring Vienna doesn’t turn into a game of “find the empty gate.”
CEO Annette Mann summed it up best: “We’re flying guests to their favorite Mediterranean spots while adding new adventures along the way.”
Translation: pack your sunscreen and your scarf — Austrian’s Summer 2026 schedule has it all.
