Qatar Airways Expands Winter Schedule
Qatar Airways Expands Winter Schedule
Winter might be about hot chocolate and woolly socks for most people, but Qatar Airways has clearly decided it’s about more planes, more flights, and more reasons to book a last-minute getaway you absolutely can’t justify but will definitely take anyway.
The airline is ramping up capacity to Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Shanghai and Singapore, adding nearly 3,000 extra flights this year. Yes — 3,000. At this point, Qatar Airways is basically speed-running the world.
And this is on top of its wider winter expansion, which already sprinkled extra flights over more than 15 destinations like Cape Town, Dublin, London, Phuket and Toronto. It’s giving “Santa, but with aircraft.”
Doha Is Still the World’s Most Efficient Travel Roundabout
All these new flights funnel through Hamad International Airport, Qatar Airways’ mega-hub and the airport equivalent of that friend who’s always annoyingly organised.
Also, just casually, Qatar Airways was named Skytrax World’s Best Airline for the ninth time in 2025 — which is basically the aviation version of winning “Employee of the Month” every month for a decade.

More Flights Where You Want Them
Here’s what’s changing:
Kuala Lumpur
From 17th December, flights jump from 14 to 17 per week, making it even easier to connect Southeast Asia with hotspots like Jeddah, London and Paris.
Lagos
Between 15th December and 28th March, flights increase from 10 to 14 weekly, boosting links between Nigeria and the airline’s 170+ destination network.
Shanghai
From 1st January to 28th March 2026, flights rise from 7 to 10 weekly — because demand for China is booming, and Qatar Airways is not here to miss a good opportunity.
Singapore
From 12th January, the airline will bring out the big guns — the Airbus A380 — on select flights. More seats, more legroom, more “yes, I’m absolutely upgrading, don’t judge me.”
Free Wi-Fi Because Qatar Airways Wants You Very Online
The winter boost is powered by its long-haul fleet of Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s, now featuring free, high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi. Qatar is the first airline on earth to have more than 100 widebody aircraft with the service.
Translation: you can now binge your favourite shows, ignore work emails, or send holiday selfies in real time at 40,000 feet.
The Strategy? Simple: Predict What Travellers Want Before They Even Want It
Qatar Airways says these winter increases are part of its master plan to anticipate global travel trends — whether you’re travelling for business, leisure, or simply in denial about winter entirely.
Either way, they’ve made one thing very clear:
If you want to go somewhere this winter, Qatar Airways probably has a flight for that.
