Wizz Air expands at London Luton

Wizz Air expands at London Luton

Just when you thought London Luton Airport was already very, very pink, Wizz Air has gone and turned the saturation up even further.

The airline has snapped up additional take-off and landing slots from TUI Airways, which means one thing in Wizz-speak:
another aircraft is moving in.

From summer 2026, Wizz Air will base its 15th Airbus A321neo at Luton, further cementing its title as the airport’s biggest operator. At this point, Luton and Wizz Air are less “airline and airport” and more “long-term relationship”.

Six New Routes, One Very Busy Summer

With the extra aircraft in place, Wizz Air is launching six new routes from London Luton from June 2026, covering everything from beach escapes to city breaks and one destination that might have your spellcheck questioning your life choices:

  • Alicante – because summer without Spain is just winter in disguise
  • Lyon – for food, wine, and pretending you’re there “for business”
  • Corfu – sun, sea, and very strong opinions about olive oil
  • Faro – Algarve vibes activated
  • Turin – Italy, but with fewer tourists and better aperitivos
  • Yerevan – and yes, this one is a big deal

London–Yerevan: A First, and a Pretty Cool One

The new London Luton–Yerevan route will be the first-ever direct connection between London and Armenia. No connections, no creative routings, and no explaining to friends why you’re changing planes in three different countries to get there.

It’s a genuinely new link between the UK and the Caucasus region — and proof that Wizz Air isn’t just about beaches and budget breaks (although it’s still very good at those too).

66 Destinations and Counting

With aircraft number fifteen officially joining the Luton family, Wizz Air will serve 66 destinations from the airport next summer. That’s a lot of boarding passes, a lot of early morning departures, and a lot of people discovering that Luton is actually much better connected than they thought.

The airline says the expansion will:

  • Create local jobs
  • Improve connectivity
  • Keep fares low
  • And deploy shiny, fuel-efficient A321neos across the network

In airline terms, that translates to “more seats, more choice, and more reasons to refresh the booking page.”

The Bottom Line

Wizz Air isn’t just growing at Luton — it’s doubling down.

More planes.
More routes.
More destinations you suddenly feel the urge to Google.

And with summer 2026 shaping up to be one of the airport’s busiest yet, Luton’s role as a key UK gateway is only getting stronger — even if it is now very, unmistakably Wizz-coloured.
