Hypomeeting Götzis 2027

Hypomeeting Götzis 2027

Dates taking place: May 2027 (Dates TBA).

Location: Götzis, Vorarlberg, Austria

Austria: Mozart, schnitzel, an epic mountain scenery, and a spinning lady in a dress. We’re different. Picture 10,000 people in a stadium going mental. Watching athletes sprint, jump, throw, and pole vault through 10 events in 2 days. Welcome to Hypomeeting Götzis 2027. The combined-event athletics competition that. The sporting weekend you never knew you had to plan a trip to. Until now.

What Even Is a Combined Event?

Think a decathlon and a heptathlon could be loose afternoons at the local track and field? Think again. Men’s decathlon is 10 different track and field events from 100 metre sprints to 1500 metre sprints and javelins over 2 days. Women’s heptathlon is 7 equally arduous track and field events over the same 2 days. The athletes at Götzis have the extraordinary range of speed and strength to even be able to pole vault and jog the 1500 metre sprint at the same time. Just one of the Götzis events is exhausting to watch. Götzis is one of the biggest venues for Combined Events. In 2001, Götzis was the site of one of the most significant moments in the history of Combined Events. Roman Šebrle became the first person to score over 9000 points in Combined Events. Götzis is a frequent setting for world and meeting record score achievements.

What About This Event Draws Athletes and Fans Every Year?

Unlike Götzis Hypomeeting’s elite sports performances, the atmosphere is unmatched and special, and over 500 volunteers make it happen. Pulling in the time and effort, the atmosphere sparkles with warmth. To characterize it in a few words, it is a leg-pulling stadium. Fans elasticized to the limits of the stood from faraway countries Sweden, and Belgium, and to the families from local Vorarlberg. Snack and picnic layered, aged hundred of families.

Athletes and spectators don't return out of sport but out of the fantastic friendships. The story of American decathletes learning Jass, a Swiss card game, with local spectators is a testament to strong friendship formations. Such friendships and connections have made local families and spectators travel as far as Australia and even continents away. The Götzis Hypomeeting is great quaint culture and spirit with world class sport.
