Air Serbia Returns to Munich (Because 18 Years Is Long Enough)
After nearly two decades away, Air Serbia is making a comeback to Munich Airport — and honestly, it’s about time.
From 22 May, the airline will relaunch its direct Belgrade–Munich service, ending an 18-year hiatus that feels less like a gap and more like a dramatic pause.
And the best part? It’s daily. No “twice a week if the stars align” situation — just reliable, grown-up scheduling.
A Short Flight That Gets Straight to the Point
Let’s talk efficiency. The flight clocks in at around 90 minutes, which is barely enough time to finish a podcast, let alone regret not booking Business Class.
Flights will be operated on the Embraer E195, offering 118 seats across Business and Economy — compact, comfortable, and refreshingly straightforward.
The schedule mixes things up:
- Morning departures from Munich on some days
- Evening flights on others
In other words, whether you’re an early bird or someone who believes mornings are optional, you’re covered.

Munich Is Expanding — And Air Serbia Is Right on Cue
This relaunch isn’t happening in isolation. Munich Airport has been quietly upgrading, including a new pier at Terminal 1, because even airports enjoy a glow-up now and then.
Airport CEO Jost Lammers welcomed the return, noting the importance of stronger links between Bavaria and the Balkans — which, in travel terms, is code for “more options and fewer awkward connections.”
Why This Route Actually Matters
This isn’t just another line on a departures board. According to Jiří Marek, the route strengthens ties between Serbia and one of Europe’s most economically dynamic regions.
Translation?
- Business travel just got easier
- Leisure trips just got quicker
- And multi-destination itineraries just got a lot more tempting
From its hub in Belgrade, Air Serbia offers onward connections across Southeast Europe and beyond — ideal if one destination simply isn’t enough (and let’s be honest, it rarely is).

A Summer Comeback Worth Booking
With ticket sales already underway, this new offering is headed in the right direction for the busiest travel season of the year. More direct routes is always more convenient, and in travel, convenient is all that matters.
And if there’s anything we’ve learned in the last few years of travel, it’s this: people love all the options that are available, but in the end, people love more convenience in booking flights.
And after 18 years away, Air Serbia clearly got the memo.
