India Just Opened 85 Doors — Which One Does Your Incentive Program Walk Through?

With 85 e-Visa entry points now active across 36 airports, 38 seaports and 11 land crossings, India has never been more accessible for international group travel.

India has always been the destination that rewards ambition. It is vast, layered, and almost offensively rich in experiences. The question has never been whether India delivers. The question has always been how to get a diverse international group through the door cleanly and confidently.

That question just got considerably easier to answer.

India's official e-Visa portal now lists 85 active entry points for electronic visa holders. Thirty-six airports. Thirty-eight seaports. Eleven land border crossings. The system covers 174 eligible nationalities. Around 95% of applications process within 72 hours. Approximately 78% of all visas India now issues are electronic.

For group travel planners, that is a structural shift in how India gets programmed.

Why the e-Visa Expansion Changes Incentive Itinerary Design

The practical impact for incentive travel is significant. More entry points mean more creative routing options. A program no longer has to funnel every attendee through Delhi or Mumbai simply because those were the safe, established choices.

Goa has its own airport on the list — both Dabolim and the newer Mopa. Jaipur is accessible directly. Cochin, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru all accept e-Visa holders. Tirupati and Bhopal have just been added. The new Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated on August 1, 2026, is expected to follow shortly.

For multi-city programs, the ability to fly groups in through one e-Visa approved airport and out through another — e-Visa holders can depart through any authorised checkpoint — opens itinerary structures that were previously logistically complicated.

A group arriving into Cochin, moving through Kerala's backwaters, flying to Jaipur for the Rajasthan leg, and departing from Delhi is a coherent, elegant program. The e-Visa system now supports it fully.

What India Actually Looks Like as an Incentive Destination

India operates at a scale and sensory intensity that no other destination matches. That is simultaneously its greatest asset and the reason it requires a skilled DMC to execute properly.

Rajasthan remains the jewel of the incentive circuit. Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Jaisalmer form a route through a landscape of forts, palaces, and desert that has been converting sceptical corporate travelers into India advocates for decades. A private dinner in a Jaipur maharaja's palace courtyard, arranged exclusively for your group, is the kind of evening that defines a career in incentive travel.

Kerala offers something completely different. The backwaters — navigated by private houseboat with a chef aboard — create an atmosphere of almost surreal tranquillity. The contrast between the Rajasthan program and the Kerala finale works brilliantly for groups who want range across a single itinerary.

Mumbai rewards a full immersion day. The Dharavi creative industry tour, the art deco seafront at Marine Drive, a chef's table dinner in Colaba — the city moves fast and delivers constantly. For groups based in financial services, tech, or media, Mumbai speaks a language they recognise and elevates it.

Varanasi is for programs with the confidence to go somewhere genuinely profound. A private dawn boat on the Ganges, the ghats emerging from morning mist, is an experience that sits outside any category corporate travel normally operates in. It is the kind of moment that changes how attendees think about what a program can be.

The Seaport Dimension: Cruise and Maritime Incentives

Thirty-eight seaports on the e-Visa list is a detail worth noting. For incentive programs that incorporate cruise elements, private yacht charters, or maritime arrivals as part of a theatrical group experience, the seaport coverage gives planners options they may not have considered.

Cochin, Mumbai, Goa, Mangalore, and Port Blair are all listed. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands — accessible via Port Blair — represent one of India's most extraordinary and underused incentive settings. Private island access, coral reef diving, and a remoteness that feels genuinely exclusive. Your DMC partner will know exactly how to structure it.

Your DMC Navigates India So You Don't Have To

India's complexity is real. Its rewards are proportionally extraordinary. The DMC partner who knows which palace accepts private buyouts, which chef will cook a regional menu unavailable in any restaurant, and which sunrise experience requires a permit arranged three months in advance — that partner is the difference between an India program and an extraordinary India program.
