Three Passports, One Portal: Northern Cyprus Goes Digital for Delegates
A new e-Visa system replaces consular paperwork for Armenian, Nigerian and Syrian nationals, quietly removing one of group travel's most stubborn headaches.
Every planner has met that delegate. The one who nearly missed the trip, not because of a flight, but because of a consular appointment, a courier, and a passport sitting in a drawer somewhere.
Visa friction has ended more incentive dreams than any budget meeting. So when a destination moves its paperwork online, it deserves your attention.
Northern Cyprus has done exactly that. As of 24 August 2026, an electronic visa system is live at kktc-evize.gov.ct.tr. Nationals of Armenia, Nigeria and Syria can now apply online rather than in person at a consular office.
What Actually Changed
The process runs in three steps. Applicants submit the form online, pay once approved, then download the e-Visa before departure.
Fees are modest by any standard. A single-entry e-Visa costs $40, while multiple-entry runs $80. Express and VIP processing sits at $80 and $120 respectively.
Tourist applications currently show an average turnaround of three to five business days. The regulations allow up to 30 days, extendable to 60 in administrative cases. Build a buffer and everyone sleeps better.
Three categories exist: tourist, student, and a broader "other" bracket. That third one covers business travel, events, medical treatment and official visits. Read: your incentive group.
Travellers from the US, UK, Canada and Australia are unaffected for now. The system currently applies only to those three nationalities, though the framework allows more to be added later.
One practical note. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs website had not been updated as of 25 August 2026, so it still describes the older consular route. Check the portal, not the legacy page.
Why Planners Should Care More Than You'd Expect
Multinational programs live or die on the weakest passport in the room. If you run global sales incentives, your qualifiers rarely all carry the same document.
Nigerian qualifiers in particular are a growing force in corporate travel. Removing an in-person consular step from their journey is not a small administrative detail. It is the difference between attendance and a polite apology.
Advance screening also helps. Authorities can now begin eligibility checks before arrival rather than at the border. Fewer surprises at passport control means fewer frantic WhatsApp messages at 6am.
Worth remembering: an e-Visa is permission to travel, not a guarantee of entry. Immigration officers retain discretion at the port of arrival, as they do everywhere.
A Little Context, Handled Properly
The northern part of the island is administered by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognised as a state by Türkiye. The United Nations and the European Union maintain different positions on its status.
The practical implication for planners is simple. Entry routes, paperwork and logistics differ from those of the Republic of Cyprus. This is precisely why local expertise stops being optional.
The Shoreline Your Group Hasn't Photographed Yet
Now for the fun part. Kyrenia's horseshoe harbour is the sort of place that makes a welcome dinner feel effortless. Fishing boats, a Venetian castle, and a sunset that does most of the work for you.
Bellapais Abbey sits above the town in Gothic ruin, and it is a spectacular setting for a private recital. Add a string quartet, some local wine, and watch the group go quiet.
Salamis delivers Roman theatre, mosaics and a gymnasium beside the sea. The Karpaz peninsula offers empty golden sand, wild donkeys, and a genuinely remote picnic setting.
The food scene rewards curiosity. Halloumi made that morning, seafood meze that keeps arriving, and village kitchens that treat a group of forty as family.
Sailing charters, Beşparmak mountain drives and boutique harbour hotels round out the picture. It is a compact destination, which suits tight program schedules beautifully.

Your DMC Is the Difference
The best moments here are not bookable online. Private abbey access, a chef's table above the harbour, a sunrise ride along Karpaz sand. These come from relationships built over years.
