The Larnaca Triathlon 2026 will see one of the most beautiful coastal cities Cyprus has to offer play host to an iconic triathlon race that highlights the athletes' stamina and adaptability. The event is being run by Nireas Triathlon, Cyprus' leading triathlon club, which regularly puts on top-quality races that attract both local and international competitors.
Larnaca Triathlon participants will take place during a non-drafting race, racing a crystal-clear sea swim in the Mediterranean, closely followed by a demanding bike ride and a three lap run covering key parts of Larnaca. These categories results on races run by the fastest and most challenging race for all athletes.
Swim, Bike, Run in the Heart of Larnaka
Makenzy Beach is a favourite triathlon swimming spot as the open sea experience begins the race with a lovely swim. Competitors will swim one or two laps depending on Super Sprint or Sprint Distance. Wetsuits are optional, though helpful, in the cool morning water. There is safety in numbers, although we do have lifeguards anda couple of volunteers covering the entire swim course as well.
Competitors then embark on the cycling section which follows the picturesque and challenging Piale Pasa promenade with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea. Athletes must also do multiple laps with Sprint committing you to four. Very strict obedience to traffic laws is enforced as the roads are closed to the public for obvious safety reasons, though emergency vehicles will be present of course. The course design leads to fast, but competitive, race play with penalties for drafting and other offenses.
Finally, competitors head out on the run, doing multiple loops of a running course. The run is a time for concentration and endurance, following the rigorous swim and bike components of the race. Every runner is obliged to run their laps following the rules of the transition area so that the race runs smooth.
