Kelaat M’Gouna Rose Festival 2026

Kelaat M’Gouna Rose Festival 2026

Dates taking place: 6th - 9th May 2026

Location: El Kelaâ M'Gouna, Morocco

The Kelaat M’Gouna Rose Festival is an experience that is epitomized by dancing, music, and fragrance. Picture an entire valley filled with thousands of crimson and pink Damascus roses. All of this surrounded by an ethereal music experience and a mesmerizing, sweet fragrance that would tantalizing your senses beyond any store-bought candle. You are warmly welcome to Kelaat M'Gouna Rose Festival 2026.

The festival is celebrated annually every May in El Kelaâ M'Gouna, a town with in the stunning Dadès Valley of the astounding High Atlas Mountains, and is one of the most celebrated festivals in Morocco. This festival celebrates and commemorates the moon's harvest of the Damascus rose (the rose that is the basis of rose water, essential oils, and that expensive perfume you a shamefully sat and sniffed for 30 seconds in the duty-free store). At this festival, the rose and its products are not mere products, they are a whole way of life.

Pink Petals and Serious Pageantry

The main focus of the festival is the ceremonial harvest of the rose and the hereditary traditions that stem from generations of Berber families that have been culturing these Roses. However, the word “ceremony” does not translate to quiet and peaceful. Prepare for parades and a multitude of music including traditional Berber dancing, crowned by a “Rose Queen” and a host of other entertainment and commercial vendors. Witness the colorful streets and fragrant air and when the folkloric dancing and the roadside stalls become the focus of your attention, forget that you ever had a to-do list.

Look for lively souks filled with rose water, rose oil, rose soap and rose jam—yes, jam. Make sure to purchase some. You'll find yourself buying three jars to bring back home even before you've had your lunch.

A Place That Deserves Its Own Itinerary

El Kelaâ M'Gouna is more than just a scenic view. It is located at the entrance of some of the most beautiful landscapes in Morocco— the Dadès gorge, the Valley of Roses, and the long dusty road to the Saharan Desert. You will come for the festival, and then stay for the beautiful scenery that will make you question your existence.

Time seems to stop here. The hospitality of the Moroccans is warm, generous, and friendly, so you will be able to stay here even if you're a novice traveler or someone who has clearly had business meetings and needs a break.

Why Travel Experts Should Be Literally Smelling the Roses

DMCs, incentive travel planners, and travel agents will find the Rose Festival 2026 to practically sell itself. This is the best kind of sensory travel, with a unique blend of cultural roots, visual panorama, and local tradition that no hotel lobby or conference room can replicate.

Add it to an incentive program along with an overnight Sahara experience, a riad stay in Marrakech, or a private guided tour through the Atlas Mountains, and you have a trip that clients will rave about for years. The undiscovered factor is huge – Morocco is beautiful, but this part of it feels like an exclusive discovery. It is a great story to tell and an easy itinerary to put together, and it is the reward that makes people feel truly valued, rather than just sending them to a beach destination. Daytime rose festival, nighttime starlit desert camp. That’s not a trip, that’s a memory.
