Events in Nepal

When it comes to the different cultures and traditions celebrated each year in festivals and fests, Nepal is definitely a contender worth mentioning. Festivals like Dashain, Tihar, and the many chariot and Buddhist ceremonies, bring with them a variety of traditions, songs, and dances, and a lot of color. The country's festivals combine its long and rich history and its many different types of spirituality into a display that is a joy to watch, not just in Nepal, but in the many different countries that have festivals like them and celebrate them. The blend of colors and sounds, traditions and songs is a joy to experience again and again.

Every year, joyous and colorful ceremonies are held in celebration of Dashain and Tihar, and in commemoration of the many different Buddhist and Hindu ceremonies celebrated each year with chariot ceremonies, each of the country's festivities add to the country's long history and rich diversely into Nepal's festivals. The colors and sounds of the ceremonies and traditions is a dance to experience year after year to fully enjoy the festival. Additional Events in Nepal

Mani Rimdu (Everest Region)

At high elevations in the Himalaya, sacred monks practice ancient dances of promotion for the public’s fortune and to maintain the balance between the visible and the unseen. Mani Rimdu is not your typical festival, but more of an ancient living legend. The chill of the valleys radiates the echo of the chants, and time appears to stop momentarily.

Gai Jatra (Festival of the Cows, Kathmandu Valley)

Gai Jatra is a partial, and mercifully, satire of a pilgrimage. Families grieving a deceased member of a family go through the city to remember the departed while performers ridicule the city, the government, and even death. The celebration eases the grief and the for all in the city. It’s not every day that we celebrate the ephemeral.
