Parintins Folklore Festival 2027

Parintins Folklore Festival 2027: Further Folklore Carnival in the Heart of the Amazon
Dates: June 2027 (dates to be announced) in Brazil. If you thought the Amazon was defined by trees, toucans and riverboats, think again. On June 25–27, 2027, the sleepy little jungle town of Parintins becomes awash with vibrant color, music, and total theatrical craziness at one of Brazil’s largest cultural fiestas. Picture Rio’s Carnival... but replace the samba with two enormous duelling bulls (yes, bulls), hundreds of years of folklore and a rivalry to make football ultras seem tame.
Team Red vs. Team Blue
Ultimately, the entire Parintins Folklore Festival 2027 centers on an epic face-off between two teams: Boi Garantido (the red bull) and Boi Caprichoso(the blue bull). Every team spends weeks devising extraordinary displays of music, dance, floats and costumes so glittering that they make Broadway appear underdressed. Then, inside the purpose-built Bumbódromo arena over three days, they send each other up in smoke in a skirmish for bragging rights. The energy? Think Eurovision, but in the jungle and with many, many feathers.

All About the Legend
At its core, the festival is a retelling of the Bumba Meu Boi, a folk tale concluded from a mix of Indigenous, African and Portuguese traditions. It’s been held since 1965 in Parintins, and every year it gets bigger, better and louder. Today, it’s no longer “small-town play” but Cirque du Soleil meets folklore fever dream.
The Vibes
Yes, the stage show is dazzling, but the streets of Parintins are just as electric. Locals cheer as if it were the World Cup final, the city floods with food stalls and parties and tourists get swept into the madness instantly. It’s not just that you watch the Parintins Festival. It completely swallows you up. (And honestly? You’re not going to have it any other way.)
Why Travel Pros Should Care
This is not just an event; it is a treasure trove for travel pros:
- Exotic packages almost create themselves: admission to festivals, Amazon eco-lodges, artisan workshops and, why not, tastings of jungle food.
- Untapped Amazon tourism – Parintins brings travelers to a region of Brazil most would not see, and the festival can be an irresistible add-on to their Rio or Manaus travels.
- Sustainable tourism appeal – local artisans, guides and small businesses do well during festival time, so agents can sell the fluffy, hearts-and-minds community angle.
Why It’s a Big Deal
Parintins Festival is the second largest party in Brazil (after Rio Carnival) and actually, so, so many people say it’s more authentic. And for travelers, it means a front-row seat to Amazonian culture at its wildest. For the industry? It’s the type of bucket-list happening that demands, “Book now before it’s sold out.”
So … everybody got their pick for 2027? Team Red or Team Blue? (Tip: Choose one in advance before you go. Neutrality doesn’t exist in Parintins.)
