The origins of the Qingming Festival go back to the Cold Food Festival in honor of Jie Zitui, a nobel of the Spring and Autumn Period more than 2,000 years ago. To summarize: a loyal person made a huge sacrifice for his lord, asked for nothing in return, and was never remembered. There is a moral of the story somewhere.
