Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2026

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2026
Dates taking palce: 30th July – 1st August 2026
Location: Belladrum Estate, Beauly, Inverness.
There are music festivals in fields, there are a lot of music festivals in fields. Most of them are fine. Some of them are good. And then there is Belladrum — a festival in a particularly beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands that has been quietly doing things right since 2004 and has built, over two decades, the kind of loyal following that most festivals spend enormous marketing budgets trying to manufacture and Belladrum has accumulated simply by being genuinely good and genuinely itself.
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2026 takes place on the Belladrum Estate near Beauly, a short drive from Inverness, at the end of July. Three days of music across multiple stages in a setting that does the Highland Highlands in late July — the hills, the trees, the particular quality of Scottish summer light that appears whenever it decides to and is worth every moment of waiting when it does.
It is not Glastonbury and it is not trying to be Glastonbury. It is something considerably more specific and considerably more enjoyable for the people who have discovered what it is. Which is a Highland music festival with genuine heart, genuine community and the kind of atmosphere that only comes from an event that has never lost sight of why it started.
The Music, Which Covers the Ground
Belladrum's programming is broad without being unfocused. Headline acts on the main stage — the kind that fill the field and justify the journey — alongside a supporting programme that uses the smaller stages and the wooded areas of the estate to create something more varied and more surprising than a standard festival bill.
Folk and roots music sit alongside indie and pop and the kind of acts that resist easy categorisation and are the better for it. Scottish artists feature prominently — Belladrum has always understood that a festival in the Highlands has a responsibility to the music that comes from this part of the world and has always discharged that responsibility well. The balance between established names and newer artists is the balance that good festival programming always aims for and doesn't always manage.
The late-night stages do their own thing entirely. After the main acts, the festival continues in the wooded areas of the estate in the particular way that Highland summer nights encourage — still light at ten, warm enough if you've brought the right layer, the trees providing the kind of atmosphere that purpose-built festival stages spend significant budgets trying to replicate and that Belladrum's woodland provides for free.

The Estate Makes the Difference
Belladrum is not a temporary festival imposed on neutral ground. It takes place on an actual estate — the Belladrum Estate — with actual grounds that provide the festival with a character and a geography that most temporary sites cannot approximate. Woodland stages. Open fields. The hills of Inverness-shire in the background doing what Highland hills do in late July, which is look magnificent and make everyone who grew up near them quietly grateful and everyone who didn't quietly envious.
The site is compact enough to be navigable and varied enough to reward exploration. You will find things you didn't plan to find — a stage in the trees, an act you hadn't heard of, the corner of the festival that turns out to be exactly where you wanted to spend the afternoon. This is the mark of a well-designed festival site. Belladrum has been one for twenty years.
Late July Near Inverness
The timing is not accidental. Late July in the Scottish Highlands is the Scottish Highlands at or near its best — the long days, the heather beginning its slow turn, the midges doing what midges do in the Highlands in summer which is their problem and nobody else's but worth noting. Bring repellent. Apply it. The festival is worth it.
Inverness is nearby — a city that has been developing its own considerable charm alongside its role as the gateway to the Highlands and is now worth a day in its own right. Loch Ness is close enough that the obligatory visit requires minimal detour. The Cairngorms, the Black Isle, the wider Highland landscape that makes this part of Scotland one of the most spectacular in Europe — all of it available in the days around the festival for anyone who arrives early enough or stays late enough to use it.
Both. Arrive early and stay late. The Highlands will justify both without being asked.
For DMCs and Incentive Planners: The Highland Festival That Punches Above Its Size
For travel professionals, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2026 is the kind of event that solves the problem of clients who want a music festival and a Scottish Highlands experience simultaneously and are not sure the two can coexist in the same programme.
They can. Belladrum is the proof. Three days of genuine music programming in one of the most beautiful estate settings in Scotland, a short drive from Inverness, at the time of year when the Highlands are at their most accessible and most spectacular. The festival provides the cultural programme. The estate provides the atmosphere. The Highlands provide everything around it.
For incentive groups, Belladrum offers the combination that festival-based travel aims for — shared music experiences, a setting that justifies the journey independently of the programme, and the particular communal warmth of a festival that has been building its community for twenty years and welcomes new arrivals into it without effort. It is the kind of event that groups arrive at as colleagues and leave from as people who have spent three days in a field in the Highlands listening to good music together, which is a different and better thing.
The field near Beauly will be full again in 2026. The music will be good. The Highland hills will be in the background. The late-night woodland stages will be doing something excellent that wasn't on the printed programme.
That is Belladrum. That is specifically and entirely Belladrum.
