Malta Festival 2027
Dates taking place: June 2027 (Dates TBA)
Location: Poznań, Poland
For over 30 years, Poznan’s Malta Festival has transformed the entire city into a unique art showcase. This summer Malta Festival 2027 will return and promises to bring a surge of visitors to the city. Don’t let your summer calendar get booked without including Poznan.
What seems to be the most anticipated summer event?
The Malta Festival began in 1991 as an international street theatre festival alongside Poznan's scenic Lake Malta. The festival has transformed the way in which audiences experience theatre, performance, and the arts. The Malta Festival has become a multisensory experience and an artistic multi-genre experience. The festival incorporates: theatre, live music, performance art, film, literature, and the visual arts, and includes stimulating intelligent discussions.
For the past 37 years, the Malta Festival has grown into one of the most important art festivals in Central and Eastern Europe.

300 Events. One City. Zero Excuses.
The festival encompasses about 300 events representing 700 artists from all over the world. The festival takes about 7 days and is expected to attract approximately 85,000 attendees all over the world. These events take place in more than 40 venues around Poznań, and best of all, most of the events are completely free! That's right, we will host world-class artists who will perform in the provenzaian streets and you will not have to spend a single zloty!
A Tradition of Great Art
For many years, Malta Festival Poznań has hosted brilliant names in the world of music and theatre. One of the most important guests is the Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton, also a member of the ANOHNI and the Johnsons ensemble, along with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Damon Albarn, and Radiohead. Each festival has its own central theme around which all events are interconnected. This allows the festival to have an overall harmonious and cohesive design.
The Festival is in the City
Malta Festival 2027 is different from other festivals in Poznań because of the city as a whole. You are given the opportunity to not be confined to a dirty and muddy field somewhere in the middle of a nowhere but to be free to navigate in Poznań! You will be able to wander in the streets of Poznań to find theatre performances, open-air concerts, and workshops. The festival will end with a concert at Poznań lake. You will be pleasantly lost, but in the best way possible!
Just look at what the Malta Festival 2027 has achieved. No famous island or packed beaches but still a tremendous summer event held in a beautiful city. It takes some serious planning to turn a vision into a reality. Malta Festival 2027 is proof that it can be done.
