Bratislava's Christmas market is probably the closest you can get to actually being inside a snow globe. Set across Bratislava's wonderful Old Town, with the main events on Hlavné námestie and Hviezdoslavovo námestie, this is one of the most festive and charming markets in all of Central Europe. Although more famous markets in the neighboring cities of Vienna and Prague attract all the Instagram likes, the charm of Bratislava's market is often undiscovered. So thanks to all the people that decide to go to the more famous Christmas markets instead.
What to Expect When You Get There
The market is spread across the squares of the Old Town and the air is filled with the smell of cinnamon and mulled wine. Wooden stalls offer the traditional Christmas market gifts but also local crafts and delicious local foods that actually require some thought and creativity to find, not like the stuff you buy at convenient service stations. The atmosphere is definitely enhanced with the gorgeous medieval and gothic architecture of the Old Town.
