Design Indaba 2027
Dates taking place: February 2027 (Dates TBA)
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
If you’ve ever wanted to be in a place full of some of the world’s best architects, illustrators, musicians, filmmakers, and even someone who designs packaging for luxury candles (yes, they exist by the way) and wanted to feel at home, Design Indaba 2027 is it! The city of Cape Town celebrates creative expression every February at Design Indaba, and trust us when we say, a visit is like walking away from a golden opportunity.
What Is Design Indaba Anyway
Design Indaba is a creative conference that has garnered recognition and is one of the best in the industry. It's been a part of Cape Town for long enough to earn serious bragging rights too. The beauty in it is that you can gather a sea of the best and brightest and put them on a stage. It's simple enough! But they’ve had Afrofuturist thinkers, product designers of some of the most innovative packaging ideas you’d ever seen, and even some of the most disruptive architect ideas (that think of design beyond just structures) that you’d be hard pressed to say uninteresting! It’s the kind of place where you leave with a re-evaluation of what you’ve been missing, and possibly a little unsettled.

Three Days of Pure Creative Fuel
The schedule covers every type of design imaginable over three jam-packed days. Architecture, fashion, graphic design, technology, sustainability, music, and storytelling all get their time. The Emerging Creatives program highlights South African designers for the amazing work that they do on their terms. Previous conferences have had Enactus South Africa members and designers that use 3D printing to create garments and who reimagine African Sci-Fi. This conference does not remain stagnant.
Cape Town Makes Everything Better
Let’s face it, Cape Town isn’t the hardest of venues for creating a good time. Table Mountain providing a picturesque backdrop for all that is world-class food and wine is hard to describe without sounding cheesy, but it’s true. It happens in the heart of the city at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The view is so good, that it might distract you, even from the best speakers. Design Indaba decided that mind food wasn't enough, so they decided to host events scattered across the city to take over in the form of live events.
More Than a Conference
Design Indaba 2027 is an exceptionally rare opportunity to network in an organic setting. You won’t stand awkwardly shuffling through cards next to some pull up that no one will remember. Here, you will be able to genuinely chat alongside some attendees who are excited to be there and talk about their passions. Who knows? You might catch some of that enthusiasm.
For Travel Agents, DMCs, and Corporate Incentive Planners
For those of you who have planned a team-building, or a grouping of team-focused travel, within the realm of innovation (or even if they just said the word innovation once), the fact of the matter is, Design Indaba 2027 is going to be your new best friend. Cape Town is an amazing immersive travel opportunity, but the addition of an international conference will pique your client’s interest. Cape Town is masterful in the coordination of group travel for corporations. Not only does it offer a variety of luxurious and spectacular dining and lodging options, but it can easily provide a vast array of entertainment packed to the brim with activities. This conference is going to be great. So don’t be late.
