Design Indaba 2028
Dates taking place: February 2028 (Dates TBA)
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
It’s one thing to have conferences. It’s another thing entirely to have Design Indaba. Most conferences are boring and consist of attendees stuck in overly-chilly rooms and miserable presentations. Design Indaba redefines creativity and design and leaves attendees pondering new possible avenues in their career. Since its debut in 1995, Design Indaba has insisted on being the premiere destination for the most talented and creative people attending and participating in conferences in the most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town in February isn’t a punishment.
What Is Design Indaba Anyway
Design Indaba is best described as a world class and multifaceted creativity platform. It is a celebration of design and creativity that aims to have a positive impact on the world. The best and brightest in the fields of design, creativity, fashion, product innovation, filmmaking, and more are found at Design Indaba. People will be inspired to write in their notebooks and documents on their planes for a long time after leaving. It may sound like a motivational poster, but Design Indaba speaks the truth, and then they make it happen. It has a more than exceptional conference style that brings and supports innovative and important ideas to people all over the world.

Much More Than a Conference
Design Indaba 2028 plays its cards right. The annual Festival in Cape Town includes the Emerging Creatives Programme, the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa, Simulcast versions of the Conference in neighboring cities, and several other events. The Emerging Creatives Programme has created some name drop-worthy people, who you will be talking about in a mere six months after they achieve stardom. The festival even has an expo portion that makes you risk it all and border-cross just to get your hands on some independent designer goods.
They even simulcast the design talks to major cities in South Africa so that the creative conversations can extend beyond the venue. However, virtually watching a great speaker doesn’t even come close to real life.
Design Indaba in Cape Town
Let’s be real; we could give Cape Town the credit for bringing in the numbers. February in Cape Town is an overwhelming setting of the senses and Design Indaba could be a boring convention, and we would still be glad to be there. It’s beautiful and warm, and it's easy to see why so many end up staying. Between sessions, we have world class wine, a world class waterfront, and world class secluded beaches, and we still make it on time. The city does half the work to inspire you before you walk through the conference doors.
A Note for Travel Agents, DMCs, and Incentive Planners
This one is a gift, so listen up. Your more imaginative, ingenious clients are going to love you recommending Design Indaba 2028. Cape Town in February sells itself, so pitching the Design Indaba conference along with the destination just got easier for you. For corporate incentive groups, this is not a dry industry conference where delegates are going to be looking at their watches, it is inspiring, energizing, and lecturing on which people will be talking for a long time. DMCs have a great canvas to work with here: amazing venues, great hotels in every price range, and a city with endless nightlife. Incorporating your Group's itinerary with extensions to the Garden Route or Cape Winelands will have your Group's itinerary all but confirmed.
