What Actually Happens at This Thing
Every January, Delheim Wine Estate, located at the base of Simonsberg Mountain in Cape Winelands, opens its vineyards to visitors for the grape harvest. The day begins with visitors harvesting the vineyard using harvesters’ scissors. After laboring on the farm, visitors enjoy the view of the mountains as they press grapes for wine using the stomping method. They climb into barrels where stomping occurs. For this activity, a prize is offered for the most stomped juice.

A beautiful change of pace begins after the excitement of the agricultural fun subsides. Enjoy tractor rides through the estate and see how stunning the Delheim terroir really is with encapsulating vineyard hills and mountain backdrops. Everyone is treated to a traditional winelands harvest meal laid out for lunch and served outside. A snack gifted to you as you arrive, and there is a bottle of wine to share with a friend.
