Nations Championship 2026 Rugby

Nations Championship -- A New Era for Rugby

Nations Championship is set to launch in 2026, marking a new chapter in Rugby. Replacing the Summer Tour Series period, the Championship will take place every two years. Consisting of 12 national teams, it will be the first competition where you can watch an actively revamped structure to improve competitiveness, entice fan interaction, and global expansion.

The attending teams will comprise the 6 nations from the Six Nations and the 4 nations from the Rugby Championship, plus two other teams (most likely Japan and Fiji). The 12 teams will be split into 2 conferences, Europe and the Rest of World.

The competition will take place in two parts,  July and November, with international breaks in years that aren't World Cup and Lions years. In July, European teams will go south for the July conference and the November conference actions will see southern teams cross the equator for return fixtures. In total, every country will play 6 cross-conference matches. The top two teams will contest a Grand Final while Championship and playoff matches will determine the rest of the rankings.
