FIA European Rallycross Championship 2026

FIA European Rallycross Championship 2026

Dates taking place: 10th May 2026

Location: Biķernieki Complex Sports Base, Riga, Latvia

There is motorsport. And then there is rallycross — the discipline that takes a circuit, adds a gravel section, puts in a jump, mixes tarmac and dirt in the same lap and invites the best drivers in Europe to race wheel-to-wheel in conditions that reward aggression, technique and the specific kind of commitment that rallycross requires and that other motorsport disciplines occasionally suggest but never quite demand in the same way.

The FIA European Rallycross Championship arrives in Latvia on the 10th of May. One round. One day. The full rallycross format — qualifying, semi-finals, the final — compressed into the kind of event that builds from the first session and arrives at the final with the accumulated tension of everything that preceded it.

Latvia in May. The Baltic spring doing its thing. Rallycross doing its thing considerably louder.

The Racing. Which Is the Point.

Rallycross races are short. The individual races are very short. This is not a problem. It is the format's greatest asset — the standing start, the immediate wheel-to-wheel racing, the gravel section that tests the car and the driver simultaneously, the joker lap that introduces strategy into a discipline that otherwise appears to have dispensed with it entirely.

The European Championship field contains the drivers who have committed to rallycross specifically — who understand the format, who can place a car through the gravel section at the pace the podium requires and who can make the joker lap decision under pressure.

Watching them do this from the trackside banks that rallycross venues provide is watching motorsport from closer than most circuits allow.

The noise is immediate. The action is immediate. The result is rarely obvious until it is.

Latvia in May

Latvia in May is the Baltic spring arriving with genuine commitment — the days long, the landscape green, the country doing the thing that Baltic countries do in May when winter has finally released its hold and the relief is visible in everything.

Riga is the obvious base — one of Europe's finest medieval old towns, the Art Nouveau architecture that lines the streets outside it, the food scene that the city has been developing and that May makes available with the outdoor terraces that the season finally justifies. A short drive to the rallycross venue. A long evening back in Riga after the racing has finished.

Latvia in May is underrated. The rallycross is the reason. The country is the discovery.

For DMCs and Incentive Planners: Motorsport in the Baltics

For travel professionals, FIA European Rallycross Championship in Latvia is the motorsport event that combines wheel-to-wheel racing with a Baltic destination that most incentive programmes haven't considered and that most clients haven't experienced.

The discovery factor is significant. Latvia in May with rallycross as the centrepiece and Riga as the base is the kind of itinerary that clients describe as genuinely different. Because it is.

The racing provides the spectacle. Latvia provides the surprise.

Both worth the journey.
