PUMA Salzburg Marathon 2026

Dates taking place: 17th May 2026.

Location: Salzburg, Austria

Let’s face it. Who hasn’t been eating a pizza, binge watching on Netflix, come up with a statement, “I’ll run a marathon this year!” That’s the spirit, but the enthusiasm seems to fade out. What if we tell you there is a race in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe? The run has a flat course, live music, baroque palaces on every corner, and the spiritual energy of Mozart to run with you? Grab your running shoes, the PUMA Salzburg Marathon is a race you can’t resist.

Fast Times, Slow Cobblestones

The PUMA Salzburg Marathon 2026 is celebrating its 23rd year and has been solidified as one of the most popular running events in all of Central Europe. The run is flat and fast. The course is certified by AIMS and World Athletics, meaning whether you’re attempting to achieve a new personal record, or just trying to survive to the second lap, the course provides every opportunity to outrun your dignity.

The run starts at the Staatsbrücke, the heart of the city. Participants can enjoy the view as they run along the Salzburg river, the magnificent Hellbrunn Palace, the serene Leopoldskron Pond, and the illustrious Mirabell Palace. Participants get a view of the UNESCO World Heritage old town. It’s the perfect mix of a sightseeing tour with some sweating.

Everyone Is Welcome (Even You)

This weekend festival from May 15th to May 17th features numerous races to serve everyone! These races include a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K city run, a relay marathon (4 members per team), a women's only race, a junior marathon (kids 4 years and older), a breakfast run with a scenic route, and an inclusive race! To say the least, for a weekend in Salzburg, if you don't run something, you must be really strong willed. The finish line experience is accompanied with an after-race party! A party for finishing a marathon, because a marathon is worth more than just a banana and a cup of lukewarm tea.

Membership to Relay for Mozart is Exclusive

Each year, approximately 15,000 participants from around 100 countries come to the Running Festival of Mozart City. Salzburg City immerses itself in the spirit of the festival and transforms the experience from a race to a celebration. The spirit of the festival is enough, and for those who come just to see the sights and eat the famous Salzburger Nockerln, you will feel you have been a part of something big. The PUMA Salzburg Marathon is an instant legacy for an event and an annual pilgrimage for many.

For Travel Agents, DMCs, and Corporate Incentive Planners

Now let’s get talking to the professionals. If you want to provide an incentive travel experience that will genuinely get your client's pulse racing and not just get a polite nod with the phone held in front of them, the PUMA Salzburg Marathon is just that. Salzburg is stunningly beautiful with world class event infrastructure and the combination of sport, culture, music and nightlife will make it a pleasure for the non-running delegates. Corporate groups can be flexible with combination of group entry, relay teams, and spectator packages. Pairing it with an Austrian itinerary will create a travel programme that will be talked about for years. It is a self selling program, thank you very much.
