L'Etape Slovakia by Tour de France 2027

L’Etape Slovakia by Tour de France 2027

Dates taking place: August 2027 (Dates TBA)

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia

Honestly, We will probably never be able to race in Tour de France. Most people lack the genetics to climb the Alps at high speeds, meal portions are rarely measured in grams, and the closest experience to a biking "peloton" is getting stuck behind a slowly biking lane a person. However, L’Etape Slovakia by Tour de France is a perfect experience. It is a Bratislava 2027 edition Tour de France challenger event. It is a prestigious event that is equally tough and highly addictive. Bratislava is proud to present that its hosting its 2027 edition of Tour de France challenger event

What Even Is This Thing

For those unfamiliar with the L’Etape series, a simple explanation is that since 1993, they have been offering a stage to amateur cyclists for the Tour de France. This is a practice that has since spread to more than 20 countries. Fortunately Slovakia has its own beloved edition. Real roads, Real Views, and a fake professional support that makes it look like you have a clue of what you are doing. Spoiler alert: You probably don’t, but that is perfectly okay.

Two Routes—One Incredible Finish

Participants can choose from two distance options. The longer option is called The Race, which is an astounding 112km with an incredible 1,700m elevation gain. The Ride, which is still considered seriously fit, has a distance of 60km with a 900m elevation gain. The Race may seem to look like a big effort, but still, it is a friendly 60km of climbing, and still counts as extremely serious operatively regardless of what your competitive brother-in-law says. Both routes wind through the historic streets of Bratislava, picturesque Záhorie villages and the forested hills of the Malé Karpaty mountains with the final iconic climb up to Kamzík hill above the city. This climb creates a finish which hurts both your legs and torso, and fills your phone with pictures to capture the unforgettable epic ascent.

A Full Tour de France Treatment

What truly makes L'Etape Slovakia by Tour de France amazing is the atmosphere. The starting point is in the city center of the Eurovea area and the L'Etape Village, where the buzz generated by exhibitors and partners create a feeling of overwhelming excitement. This excitement is felt by cyclists, and even seasoned participants, as they bring a child-like excitement. There are timed sections where there is an opportunity for the quickest riders to pursue the coveted Yellow Jersey classification—why participate in a competition without being obsessed over a fancy jersey? Activities are organized in addition to the competitive nature of the event, such as family rides, group training rides, and kids races. This means even the non-competitive members of your travel group will find something to do other than spectate and eat pastries.
