Freeride Bikepark Kálnica, located in the hills of the little town of Nové Mesto nad Váhom, transforms the BikeFest venue every year to heart thumping excitement, and leaves you amazed at the many crazy things that happen. The BikeFest Kálnica 2027 is almost here, and judging from previous editions, it is sure to be an amazing event.
What should you expect at BikeFest
In summary, plenty. To delve deeper, there is a minimum of 10 different competetive disciplines that range from downhill to dual slalomin, pump track, the slopestyle event which is one graduated from the top slopestyle events in the world; and so the list goes on. These are the reasons why riders are enticed to this little compact Slovakia hillside, and to perform a wide range of stunts on a bike, that should probably be a subject of a PhD medical review to at least get the approval for the attempt. It almost goes without saybng that this will the largest and arguably one of the most competitive events in Eastern Europe, and this is large enough to justify the ambition.
Besides hosting professional competitions, the BikeFest Kálnica Festival Park is open to the public to test racing skills. Visitors can cycle the winding trails and test their skills on the pump track to see how well they can maneuver. Visitors will most likely be humbled by watching professional mountain bikers perform the tracks. They will also be able to enjoy the large expos, where well-known vendors and sponsors set up to display, and provide test rides on, the newest cycling gear. Not Just a Race
What really sets BikeFest Kálnica apart from the rest of the events on the calendar is the festival portion. When the racing finishes for the day, the entertainment is just getting underway. On Friday and Saturday nights the festival vibe is in full swing, as the evenings roll in to the sound of bass, and the campsite stays alive until the early hours. You'll find a range of people from hardcore racers and serious cyclists to families and festival lovers. For most, this is a festival focused on a racing vibe. The shared adrenaline and energy from those around you to start conversations, and the cycle passion for two-wheeled bikes ignites a chatter that this festival has confusingly extended fascinations.
Getting There
The journey is relatively simple considering the bike park's distance from Bratislava (around 60 km along D1 highway), two hours from Brno and Vienna, and 3 from Budapest. Shuttle buses are free for the spectators from the nearby village, and if you travel by train, you can travel from Nové Mesto nad Váhom. Camping is available.
