Cape Town Cycle Tour 2027

Cape Town Cycle Tour 2027
Dates taking place: 14th March 2027
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
2027 is the year to pack your bags for Cape Town, South Africa. Some people may find the Cape Town Cycle Tour enticing to take a vacation and cycle for 109km with random people cheering them on from the sidewalk. The annual event started in 1978 as a protest for safer streets to ride on, and has now moved onto bigger and better things as it is now the world’s largest timed cycling event.
What Makes the Route So Special
The route takes riders on a 109km journey around the Cape Peninsula, and it is, quite frankly, showing off. Riders roll out onto early ascents via Nelson Mandela Boulevard before settling into a fast coastal run through Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek. There is ocean on one side, mountains on the other, and in the middle you can question your fitness. In fact, Chapman's Peak is the reason this event is considered a bucket list ride!
The final Suikerbossie challenge will have your legs begging for mercy, and determine your ability to string a coherent insult, but finishing will make you feel like an absolute legend. You've earned that braai.

It Takes a Village
There will be over 35,000 cyclists taking part in the Cape Town Tour 2027 which means you’re definitely not going to be alone during your existential crisis. Crowd support is part of the fun, and so is having strangers cheer you on at Wynberg Hill. The crowds generate a great buzz and so do the locals at the Muizenberg and Kalk Bay beach support zones. South Africans will expect you to climb that hill and cheer you on, whether you like it or not.
Why Do We Even Cycle?
Sure, the event itself is a great reason to participate, but Cape Town is enough reason to do the trip. The bucolic beauty of Cape Town with its Atlantic coastline and majestic Table Top Mountain, is a feast of fun, adventure and mouth watering culinary delights that will keep you busy for days. From the colorful streets of Bo Kaap, to the history of of Robben Island, and a trip to Boulders Beach is a must to meet the Cape Town resident African Pinguins, this city is packed with enough sites and activities to not have to repeat one for an entire week.
The Cape Town Tour 2027 is more than a race. It’s an adventure that incorporates competition, beautiful views, culture, and the satisfaction of enjoying a great ride, something no resort has to offer!
