There will be 48 teams in the World Cup competition, and 12 groups of four teams will play.

The FIFA 2026 World Cup will change its format, consisting of 48 teams (sixteen more than Qatar 2022), one hundred and four matches (up from the previous edition by forty), another knockout round and a need to win more matches in order to become the world champion.

This highly awaited event will be held in Canada, Mexico and the USA simultaneously starting from June 2026 but the final date would be announced later. It would finish on July 19, 2026 with the World Cup’s climax.
