Well, the wait is over for Wizz Air is making a dramatic change by introducing a long-haul route from London Gatwick Airport to Saudi Arabia with the most pleasing heart-stopping offer? Tickets are starting from £134.99 (no, you do not need to adjust your sight or pinch yourself). Expensive flight fares to the Middle East are now history courtesy of an affordable scheme brought to you by Wizz Air.
Launching this route in March 2025, this low-cost carrier will be opening its first flight from Gatwick to Jeddah one of the significant trade seaports of Saudi Arabia. The trip which is almost three thousand miles and a half hour duration will be on board the airlines newly ordered fleet of Airbus A321XLR Jets. These planes are in a nutshell, the quintessence of everything you want in an aviation machine that goes over long distances; cheaper, environmental friendlier and more efficient in long distance travel.
The A321XLR: Saving Money and the Planet (One Flight at a Time)

Virgin Atlantic’s new route will link Riyadh to twelve North American destinations, including major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, through its partnership with Delta.

The airline aims to serve the growing ‘visiting friends and relatives’ (VFR) market, reflecting the increasing number of Saudis residing in the UK. Virgin Atlantic will also make a grand return to Accra, Ghana, with daily flights starting May 1, 2025. This marks the airline’s first foray back into Ghana since 2013, promising to enhance connectivity between the UK and Ghana, particularly for the sizable Ghanaian diaspora in the UK—the third largest in the world. The airline anticipates that around 10% of passengers will connect through London to Virgin Atlantic’s service to New York JFK.

ITA Airways has increased it's offerings in Saudi Arabia by adding a New Rome-Jeddah Route. This route is the second destination by the airline in Saudi Arabia for the summer of 2024 after launching flights to Riyadh in June. This makes travelling to Saudi Arabia even easier.
Key Highlights:
Inaugural Flight:
- Operated by Airbus A321neo.
- Landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport at 09:10 local time.
- Received a water arch salute.
- Return flight to Rome departed at 03:30.
- Ribbon-cutting ceremony at Jeddah International Airport.
- Attendees included Italy’s Vice Consul General Irene Buongiorno and senior officials from ITA Airways and Jeddah Airports.
Flight Schedule:
- Operates three times weekly.
- Departures from Jeddah: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 03:30.
- Departures from Rome: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 15:05.
Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of Volare said that “this new connection strengthens commercial and cultural exchanges between Arabian Peninsula and Italy through our extensive travel options via our Rome Fiumicino hub.”
This route is operated by an Airbus A321neo with three cabins – Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy – for a total capacity of 165 seats. The aircraft features state-of-the-art amenities including advanced entertainment systems designed by Walter de Silva as well as spacious cabins.
Jeddah Airport officials expressed excitement about the route’s potential to boost tourism or business travel between Saudi Arabia and other countries globally. Mazin Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports praised him saying that “ITA provides seamless travel experience to travelers from Italy, Europe & Americas.” While Majid Khan added his voice saying “it’s great news for us.”

Saudi Arabia’s prime budget airline, Flynas and a global leading low-cost carrier has reached the height of its success today by launching new direct flights between Berlin and Jeddah; starting September 4th 2024.
Strategic Alliance: In conjunction with Flynas’ participation at ITB Berlin trade show this week, the move is part of an introduction underpinned by a strategic alliance with Saudi Air Connectivity Program (ACP).
Route Details: The flight route from JED to BER will operate three times weekly via King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah (JED) starting on September 4, 2024.
Strategic Alignment: This aligns itself well with Saudi National Aviation Strategy which aims at handling 330 million passengers and attracting 150 million visitors by year 2030. And it also supports our “We Connect the World to the Kingdom” mission as well as air connectivity enhancement target of Saudi Vision 2030.
Leadership Statements: Through this new addition into their international network Mr Bander Almohanna CEO & Managing Director – Flynas said that it shows how fast they are growing in Europe while Majid Khan CEO ACP mentioned that he is thrilled about having another direct link between Berlin and Jeddah because this represents our dedication towards better connectivity.
Invitation: “We want everyone around the globe to come and discover what makes us unique all year round,” said Hazim Alhazmi President Americas & Europe Markets at Saudi Tourism Authority when inviting people over for visits anytime during any season.
