Boka Nights 2024 - A Maritime Celebration in Kotor -

Boka Nights 2024, (dates are always the last Saturday in August - August 31st, 2024) which can also be referred to as Bokeljska Noć, is considered to be one of the most awaited summer activities in the town of Kotor in Montenegro. The Festival, situated beneath the over-hanging beauty of the Kotor Bay, brings out the vigor of the regional’s Marine and its people.

Magical Parade

Boka Nights 2024 too has a central feature and an attraction that is the boat parade of draped boats where a number of boats beautifully decorated and creatively made propel on the waters of the bay. This spectacle, known as ‘djiras,’ sees the boats originally crafted by the participants being garnished with cheerful images and themes preferably mocking the current trends in politics. As the decorating of boats as of dances circle around the joys of the public, these beautiful vessels are paraded for a jury and tens of thousands of the people who appreciate such creativity and architectural works.

Culinaries and Culture

At Boka Nights 2024, people or such disappearance will be able to indulge in the local and more maritime cuisine. The empires represented encapsulate the guaranteed tastiest courses in the Agency for inflatable soup with a spicy pork stew or deep-fried fish ravished by cold cider. The Boka Nights celebration is filled with songs and music as well. After the boat parade, performances by local bands fill the squares and pubs in Kotor old town, all through the night. Traditional and pop music fills in the air creating a pleasant and happy environment.

The best part of the night is always the fireworks show. As the fireworks go off and the skies light up above the bay, in that instance, there were fireworks reflected on the water. This lovely display marks the end of the night activities, leaving people satisfied and petrified.

Theatrical Performance and Literary Bipolarity

Another interesting aspect at Boka Nights is the performance of a few historical acts. Through these works, visitors encounter Kotor as it grew within different historical periods. People wear costumes of the early periods of the town and return to those times by acting out some episodes from the town's history which is quite interesting and informative.

Another thing which is highly appreciated in the festival is the traditional costume contest. Both, locals and visitors participate in putting on traditional clothing which is a window toward understanding the cultural background of the respective region. The diverse and attractive attires contribute to the beauty of the carnival as people are very proud to retain their cultures through the wearing of costumes.
