Nyepi Day

Nyepi is observed annually as The Balinese Day of Silence marking the celebration of New Year in Bali. Every March, this day is dedicated to personal meditation and fasting. On the day, everything comes to standstill on the island; businesses close down, roads become empty even airport shuts down . It becomes a time for concentration and reflection with only nature’s sounds being audible.

Galungan Festival

Galungan which occurs every 210 days is one of Bali’s most important festivals. It represents dharma (good) triumphing over adharma (evil) and it’s marked by grand offerings, dances and rituals. Streets are decorated with penjor which are tall bamboo poles hung with offerings to symbolize good lucks. The festival lasts for ten days climaxing with Kuningan when spirits ancestors return to their heavenly abodes according to religious belief.
