Events in Dubrovnik to plan for

Cultural events like concerts and festivals are easily seen in Dubrovnik which is a beautiful city. Most of these events are dedicated to honoring the history of the city therefore the key attractions include medieval fairs, open-air concerts, and dances. The town is usually filled with a holiday spirit, with the historical Old Town giving good scenes for beautiful processions and displays of art.

This jubilation of arts makes The Dubrovnik Summer Festival one of the reasons as to why people come to the city. It also offers quite an entertaining combination of music, theater and artwork. It’s a good period to enjoy the city, both in terms of artistic and cultural activities.

Summer Festival

Every year, from July to August, Dubrovnik is also the stage for the Summer Festival of the City of Dubrovnik. For more than 70 years, the audience, whether locals or tourists, has been greeted with a variety of performances including theatre, music or dance. The festival utilizes the gorgeous medieval city to the fullest sense, with performance usually taking place in the medieval squares or fortresses in the open air.

Good Friday Procession

At Easter time, every year the city of Dubrovnik organizes an impressive Good Friday procession through its old town. Religious pictures and relics are carried by local people dressed in monk robes. The walk, which begins from the most important catholic cathedral in the city, is one of the most significant events in the spiritual life of the inhabitants of Dubrovnik and tourists willing to enjoy the core religious aspects of the city.
