Additional Events in Japan

Awa Odori

Every August in Tokushima City, Awa Obori is a highly active dancing festival in Japan. Dressed up in traditional attire, participants perform the characteristic Awa dance on the streets along with lively shamisen, taiko drums and flutes. The event represents an exultant gala of motion and sound that captivates both locals and non-residents.

Hanami

In Japan every spring Hanami is celebrated as cherry blossom viewing tradition. This turns parks and gardens around the country into stunning landscapes of pinkish white flowers. Families and friends come together under blooming trees for meals out while sitting on picnic mats enjoying food, drinks and nature’s beauty. Tokyo’s Ueno Park or Kyoto’s Maruyama Park are among popular places to view Hanami where one can find beautiful sceneries and an atmosphere of festivity.
