Kazakhstan displays a vibrant fusion of activities each emphasizing its rich cultural heritage and modern dynamism. There is always something going on, from Nauryz, the Kazakh New Year that is characterized by feasting, music and dances, to international music and film festivals. Additionally, the Almaty Marathon and Astana Opera performances enrich the event with extra excitement.

Events are often large-scale and feature flamboyant displays with lively public performances. Parades, concerts and fireworks are typical examples of celebrations such as the Day of the First President or Independence Day.

Nauryz Meyrami

Nauryz Meyrami, also referred to as Nauryz or Nowruz, signifies the Kazakh New Year and the arrival of spring. It is held on March 21st and is an olden festival that stands for rebirth and unification. During its several days’ celebration, traditional music, dances and making of Nauryz kozhe are practiced. The communities unite in tidying their homes, planting trees among other public activities that revolve around a fresh start.

Altyn Emel Balloon Festival

The Altyn Emel Balloon Festival takes place every year in beautiful Altyn Emel National Park giving tourists an opportunity to experience Kazakhstan’s natural beauty in a unique way. Typically held at the end of September, the event attracts hot air balloonists as well as visitors from all over the world.
