Events in Madrid

It is in events that Madrid acquires its real stature. Whether it's world class art shows, fun and attractive street fests or international concerts the aura is infectious here. You can see a tinge of Madrid's civilization in the festivities such as the Fiesta de San Isidro which is celebrated in honor of the city's patron saint and includes a parade, concerts and sundry people dressed in traditional attire.

Several times a year, a cross section of the contemporary and traditional events is demonstrated. One can see flamenco performances as well as their modern versions of the performance art. The holiday cheer can be felt strongly especially during Christmas and New Years day when the Plaza Mayor is turned into a market and all the people congregate in Puerta del Sol to wait for the old year’s departure and welcome the first moments of the new.

We strive to highlight all the main events, but if there's an event you think should be featured, please let us know at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We add events on a continuous basis. So if you want to stay informed of the latest information, please bookmark this page.

Additional Events in Madrid

San Isidro Festival

The San Isidro Festival, which is also referred to as the Fiesta de San Isidro, is celebrated during the San Isidro Week in Madrid in the month of May every year, to pay homage to the patron saint of the city of Madrid, San Isidro Labrador. Clothes and model cars are also part of the festivities, along with traditional music, processions and open-air concerts presented by chulapo- dressed voyagers. Another highlight is the procession going to the park de San Isidro, dislocated in the district of the same name where all local people take a rest, and listen to some strains of folk music.

La Paloma Festival

As mid-August approaches, the districts in Madrid called la Latina come to life with the colorful La Paloma festival. It is a combination of religious processions and ‘fiestas’ with food and drinks, music and dancing activities and stalls. This period is the best time to enjoy the fun and bustle of the summer in the city as streets are alive with activities after doing the virgin de la paloma the most popular character.
