Gawai Dayak

Gawai Dayak is a festival celebrated by the people of Sarawak in Borneo. It falls on June 1st every year and symbolizes the completion of rice farming activities. Events include traditional music, dance and special dishes such as lemang and tuak (rice wine). The longhouses are decorated with various colors for the season while family members gather to pay respect to ancestors for blessing them with good crop.

Rainforest World Music Festival

The Rainforest World Music Festival held in July at Sarawak Cultural Village near Kuching, which is situated in the middle of dense forest. This particular event brings together traditional artists from around the world mixed with a modern touch. For three days, there will be workshops, cultural shows during day time as well as evening concerts staged against rainforests backdrop. It is an occasion that celebrates worldwide music and cultures involving in a lively natural environment.
