Oman is a country that captivates with its culture and friendliness. Most of the events taking place here have a deep basis in the history of this region, as well as a number of modern activities. Each of the holidays includes traditional Omani music, dances, and various kinds of artistic and craft work that reflect national spirit.

For many, the highlight of the year is the Muscat Festival that brings one’s attention to Oman’s culture through various concerts, food tents and local craftsmen. As for the National Day celebrations, they remain unmatched as well, with every single parade and the fireworks show presenting bright colors to the heavens.

Khareef Festival in Salalah

Khareef season begins from the last part of the month of June to the first half of the month of September and is referred to as a summer monsoon in Salalah, snatching away the sultry heat and changing the land into a green paradise. The Khareef Festival presents the beauty and culture of the region of Dhofar through various performances and exhibitions, as well as traditional fairs. This is the period when both guests and local residents enjoy the cooling off rains and the celebrations characterized by Omani hospitality and the peculiar climate of the region.

The Al-Buraimi Camel Racing Festival

Traditionally, Oman’s Camel Racing integrated the smaller community, al-Buraimi of Oman – which is why every year, thousands of spectators from Oman and its neighbors pour into al-Buraimi to participate in the annual racing events. Snowy white camels, deep in silhouette, move majestically across the sandy sea-track, riding slowly towards gentler desert winds – with the constant goal in mind: be the first to reach the finish line in the timeless fashion of ‘speed racing’. This spectacle offers tones of traditional Omani music, local food, and objects of art whilst arousing focus+ energy that is embedded into this game played for over 2000 years.
