Portugal is the land where one can find tradition and culture thriving in its full glory. Most of its festivities celebrate annual customs, including local feasts to massive festivities. Fado music, vibrant celebrations, as well as folklore dances all play an important role during the events creating hi-spirited festivities.

One of the most loved geenal festivals integrating summer and the worshiping of saints is the Festas dos Santos Populares. There will be more street festivals with grilled sardines in herassecloc music and dance non-stop till dawn. In the same vein another famous festivity is the Festa de São João celebrated in Pocolo and featuring lots of fireworks and childish celebrations.

São João’s Festival

One of the jolliest festivals in the lands of Portugal, Festa de São João is celebrated every year in Porto on the 23rd of June. Streets are brightly embellished and filled with skyrocket, music, and dancing of both residents and guests. There are street festivities and meat grilled in the open air. On top of it all, the festival's iconic aspect is a bit peculiar, as it involves people playfully hitting others over the head with plastic hammers, as a form of good luck.

Festa dos Tabuleiros

The Festa dos Tabuleiros a triannual event is one component of the culture of Templar side of Portugal. This stunning celebration has women filling the streets with elegant towering trays of bread and flowers whose significance is based on the overflowing. It is a beautiful festival vividly watched and is centuries old.
