Events in Qatar

Qatar is an afront as it represents a nation that has juxtaposed the past and the present. Among the events include some of the most intense of all sporting competitions, and some of the most breathtakingly beautiful cultural celebrations that showcase the culture of the country. Anyone including guests and the locals can dance in their seats at major music events; visit trade fairs showcasing global artists or local ‘souqs’ with handmade items and music.

Most notably, the Doha International Book Fair and Qatar International Food Festival are enjoyed by a wide variety of individuals. December 18th is National Day and this is a day when there are parades, fireworks displays, and an atmosphere of solidarity felt throughout the country.

It is hard to choose which events we should publish. We are trying to include all the main ones, but if you would like to see another event added, please let us know at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We add events on a continuous basis. So if you want to stay informed of the latest information, please bookmark this page.

Qatar National Day

The 18th of December every year marks the day when Qatar celebrates National Day. This day remembers the unification of the country in 1878, under the leadership of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. The country goes through a medley of activities that include impressive parades and colorful fireworks displays. The Corniche in Doha sprouts activities directed at that date where the citizenry and the willing tourists gather in hordes to watch. A traditional day of the country’s culture emphasizing the tents, Arabic coffee, and dated and hearty displays of culture portrays Qatari pride.

Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha: Qatar People and Culture

Eid is a highly regarded festive period in Qatar, with Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha being two of the mosques’ most important religious occasions. The first of these is the Eid al-Fitr, which follows the holy month of Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr unites people as families share festive meals, people go to mosques to pray, and anyone is allowed to shower gifts. Eid al-Adha is practiced three months after Eid al-Fitr as a feast, and charity festivities that depict the stories of the sacrificial animal beatitudes that were offered by the Prophet Ibrahim. Religious festivals and community celebrations will serve as the backdrop for these holidays. Special festivities are held in parks and shopping malls, where everyone is welcome to the activities organized.
