La Tomatina

Every year in the month of August, the quiet town Buñol located in Spain becomes a foolhardy land for La Tomatina. It is on this day that people of a small Spanish town revel in throwing overripe tomatoes at each other in a fun and messy food fight. This is a harmless pastime which began in the 1950s and has become a joy-inducing event for both residents and tourists alike.

Las Fallas

Las Fallas is a celebration that occurs in March each year in Valencia and is marked by the construction of towering paper and wooden sculptures. These elaborate constructions are on display for the public to see, only to later be torched amidst a brilliant display of fireworks as a tribute to spring’s arrival and rejuvenation.
