Events in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a country with a vibrant culture and rich with traditions. It is a country of several festivals such as music festivals as well as art festivals and traditional ceremonies.

Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) attracts musicians, dancers, actors and visual artists from all corners of the world. It is also during such gatherings that Mbira music activities take place to enable people know about the spiritual and cultural foundations of Shona people themselves.

Zimbabwe Independent Day on April 18th is marked by parades, speeches, and other cultural performances.

Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA)

Every year in late April and early May Harare city wakes up again with its usual buzz that accompanies hosting Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA). The event takes seven days showcasing various Zimbabwean arts including international ones through musical acts, plays, dances, fine art works and spoken word events among others. HIFA: an exploration into culture’s diversity. The exponents of this exhibition are artists that share uniqueness about Zimbabwe through their creativity thus making it a festival that celebrates diversity in culture by different parties from different places around them who come together.

Zimbabwe International Film Festival (ZIFF)

This is an important annual event for cinema lovers known as Zimbabwe International Film Festival ZIFF which will be held in August. Consequently programs consist of local films as well as films from foreign film makers that present rich exchanges between diverse cinematic perspectives. Through screenings workshops panel discussions filmmakers can showcase their work to audiences leading to growth and appreciation for film industry in Zimbabwe.
