Wongabel Mabi Forest Restoration Project: A Small Step Towards Sustainability

While attending the Arinex Conference in 2023, our group actively participated in a commendable effort to restore the Wongabel Mabi Forest ecosystem which is an endangered one in the Cairns area. This initiative was equally significant as participants had a chance to understand the reason for protecting this one of a kind ecosystem and help to restore it.

In the course of the activity, the team sponsored the planting of sufficient native trees to compensate for the non-travel related carbon footprints caused as a result of the conference. This not only facilitated the restoration of the forest but also raised the consciousness of people and the movement towards addressing the problem of environmental sustainability.

What We Achieved:

• Biodiversity support through carbon offsetting native tree planting.
• Facilitated the restoration of a threatened ecosystem.
• Pledged effort to achieve sustainability through environmental education.

The Wongabel Mabi Forest Restoration Project was able to remain in the forefront of our efforts of ensuring that all our events have tangible, impactful and sustainable outcomes. It also was a strong reminder of how much everybody has the chance to take action for the preservation and restoration of the Earth.
