Events in Athens

Athens is full of history and culture and ancient cultures coexist with the modern ones. The events here, which are often placed in the great sights of the city, combine the elements of art, music, and theatre. Even in the hot months, one can always escape the ordinary street life and go to either open-air concerts or many spirited events filled with ancient and typical for this place customs.

One of the most famous events hosted in the very cultural center of the country – the Athens & Epidaurus Festival – is an international festival of performances held in different countries.

We strive to highlight all the main events, but if there's an event you think should be featured, please let us know at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Additional Events in Athens

Athens Marathon

The last month of the year is when we go out there to run the Athens Marathon along with hundreds of international…and domestic…marathon runners. It is a prestigious race which is based on the legendary journey of Pheidippides who delivered the triumph news from Marathon to the city of Athens. Ever since, no foreigner has thought of combining scenery with endurance training.

Athens Epidaurus Festival

The Athens Epidaurus Festival offers a variety of music, theatre and dance performances every summer at the Herodes Atticus Odeon and the Epidaurus theatre among others. It is this centuries-old tradition of promoting arts and culture that encourages the residents as well as visitors to embrace the artistic energy of Greece.
