Songkran Festival

Every year from April 13th to 15th, Bangkok transforms into a vibrant hub of celebration for the Songkran Festival. This event marks the traditional Thai New Year, inviting both locals and visitors to participate in the world-famous water fights. Streets are filled with people armed with water guns, buckets, and hoses, symbolizing the washing away of the old year’s misfortunes and welcoming the new with a fresh start.

Loy Krathong

On the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, usually in November, Bangkok celebrates Loy Krathong. People gather around lakes, rivers, and canals to release small, decorative floats called krathongs. These are typically made from banana leaves and adorned with candles, incense, and flowers. The act of setting them afloat is believed to honor the water spirits and release negativity, allowing for a period of reflection and spiritual renewal.
