Dates: 23rd - 25th August 2025. The Nušićijada festival, an iconic cultural event in Ivanjica, Serbia, is set to return in 2025, promising yet another immersive celebration of humor, art, and tradition. Originally founded in 1968, Nušićijada was revived in 2009 after a hiatus, bringing back the spirit of the great Serbian playwright Branislav Nušić. A Good Background and an Active Comeback

Originally the Nušićijada was meant to be a video and film chuckle encompassing nušić’s comedy works who happens to be one of the well known writers in Serbia. The first assembly ran from 1968 to 1972 and has made a name as a noteworthy cube. Yes. But the event was last revived in 2009 and this time it stayed forever owing to zealous local efforts. Since then Nušićijada has seen a steady rise in attendance and thousands of people flock to the small town of Ivanjica every year.

The resurgence of the Nušićijada festival was not simply a matter of going back to the roots but rather an advancement into a tradition where Ivanjica becomes an open air museum giving life to Serbia of the late 19th century and early 20th century for a period of three days. The day of opening of the festival is always full of colour and interest thanks to the impressive variety of floats and over some hundreds of participants dressed in costume, so presenting a fine spectacle. Crowds, both locals and tourists, flock the places with a sense of celebration and laughter.

Something For Everybody

Every year, the programme of Nušićijada never fails to amuse people off all ages as it contains contest, theatrical performance and plenty of other engaging activities, which has a great cultural aspect on most form of entertainment. Some of the activities include the theatrical performance, music concerts, art shows, and movie displays as part of the program. Children can look forward for some street acts and classes or child friendly activities. Also more serious participants get to enjoy addressing aspects on Nušiћ’s life and work in Serbia which come in the form of scholarly or closed discussions.

The Spirit of Nušićijada

Aside from reviving each of Mušić’s comic strips, or performing them in great detail, the aim of every single Nušićijada festival is to unite culture and the people across the globe through laughter. The residents of Ivanjica feel great pride each time their town is mentioned due to the contributions the festival has made in terms of community growth. An overwhelming feeling of joy will always accompany a great deal of creativity which is enough of a reason to believe how great of a tool for transforming an entire town humor really is.

Every consecutive year a new program develops over the exciting existing one with new ideas and implementations without losing the essence of the previous iterations, which many people have loved. The main thing, as always, is that the festival aims to create ideal conditions for the cooperation of performers, artist, and scholars with the people.

Celebrating the Return of Nušićijada in 2025

Be it your first time or you are a regular there, one sure thing is the best of the Serbian humor, culture and hospitality can be availed at the Nušićijada. Therefore, I would like to wish everyone good luck in 2025 and hope to see you all there, for what I believe to be the future in the past and the best of everything now.
