An Event That Everyone Should Experience At Least Once In Their Lifetime

The festival started in a small village of Guča located in western Serbia, and over the years it has transformed into one of the most significant global occasions. The Guča Trumpet Festival, also referred to as the Dragačevski Sabor, witnesses over three hundred thousand attendees per year thanks to the wide variety of Balkan brass music. The program of this wonderful festival offers everything from private commemorating on the streets to presenting performances on a grand scale stage which are, of course, in all the traditions of the Serbian people.

The festival is heralded by the festival hymn, the song “Sa Ovčara i Kablara,” after which there follows the competition of some of the leading brass orchestras in the territory of the Balkans. Each of these musicians plays their best in order to win the highly sought Golden Trumpet award. The contest is tough, but at the same time it is obligation for everyone to sing and celebrate.

The festival, along with music, offers variety of attractions for the visitors of the Guča Trumpet Festival. This multiculture festival has its own distinct features which work towards shaping its attendees full of sensory perception of the Serbian culture. The locations in Guča are filled with the scent of different dishes of Serbia, grilling stands full of cevapi and pljeskavica. Wanting to try a different experience, members of larger groups usually order an entire meat of a roasted pig straight to their residence place, and comes on a spit.

Guča festival is interesting in the sense that accommodation options are as diverse the performances themselves (there is even an option for sleeping under the stars). The locals are very hospitable, so just renting their home in the village is also an option. Others do not mind roughing it with tent accommodation in areas designated for camping that are near the village trumpet festival. It is quite a loud and busy experience with trumpet music deafeningly resonating around them as well as other festival activities.

But that is not all there is to it; as an all encompassing festival:

A prominent factor that distinguishes the Guča Trumpet Festival from other such festivals is the events’ purpose which is to celebrate life and instill a joyous atmosphere throughout. Its not just about musical entertainment, its about bonding with others, dancing on the streets, celebrating as one community and sharing those moments which go on even when the last note of the last trumpet has been played. The festival is also special because despite uniting diverse individuals, after the last note of the trumpet has bonded them all.

Thrilled to create a spectacle for us every time the sun rises, the trumpet melodies echo through the vast surroundings of each savagely resembling the ancient roots of thriving civilization intertwined with the Guča. The night high energy performances are the core of this event making it even more special and heart racing for the onlookers.

Guča Trumpet Festival is a mesmerizing occasion for anyone in the travel industry and wants to expand their contacts. With tourists flocking to enjoy Serbian music and culture this festival is not for the faint hearted and goes far and beyond every year. Undoubtedly a big event with even bigger promises, the 2025 edition of the festival should carry on the legacy its had for the past few decades.
