Baščaršija Nights
Every summer the old bazaar of Sarajevo, Baščaršija is an integral part of a cultural festival that lasts for a month. From mid July to mid August, various people gather for the concerts, theatre, and even exhibitions, most being performed outside, merging the history with the performance, all under the stars. It happens to be one of the most cherished traditions of the city where not only locals, but tourists get to know the beauty of bosnian music and art.
Merdi – All Souls’ Day
Merdi or in other terms Dušni dan is attended mostly by the Catholic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Merdi is held in the early parts of November. People in families are known to go to graveyards, light candles, and put flowers on the graves, taking their time recollecting and remembering their dear ones. While the day is solemn, it brings people together. Most often this is the best time for extended families to reconnect to share loved ones' food and tell stories that honour those who have passed.
