Cleaning Cusco’s Historic Walls

Cleaning Cusco’s Historic Walls.
For tourism purposes, heritage sites like Cusco must be preserved in a way that balances its history with tourism. Bearing this in mind, Coltur DMC Peru undertook a voluntary initiative with the purpose of cleaning the Inca walls located within Cusco’s city centre. This initiative, termed as Cleaning Cusco’s Historic Walls, was coordinated by the Ministry of Culture, who mobilized local organizations and volunteers in an attempt to restore and maintain the ancient buildings.
The Inca walls were scrubbed for dirt, stains from pollution, and other remnants of contaminants. Coltur DMC Peru volunteers collaborated with community members and sanitized using soft brushes and environmentally-friendly cleaners to ensure that the stone surfaces are not harmed in any way. As a result of these efforts, the focus was on physical cleaning, but this campaign also elevated the need and importance of preserving Peru's culture.
Without a doubt, there were notable cosmetic improvements, but this endeavor was also critical in cultivating an appreciation for the importance of conservation. Through initiatives such as Cleaning Cusco’s Historic Walls, Coltur DMC Peru aims to achieve sustainable tourism by ensuring Cusco rests a well preserved tourist site for years to come. Numerous participants accepted the local pride in being part of such initiatives because they knew how their efforts would impact not only the locals, but the tourists as well.
Cusco has needed to strengthen its tourism activities, but at the same time, it is crucial for the city to preserve its landmarks. This project shows the responsibility that tourism firms need to assume in Coltur DMC Peru's progressive outlook. This type of initiative makes it possible to advocate love for Peru's beautiful sites while taking care of its environment. In particular, it sets a standard for Peru's industrial and international tourists, as well as other active stakeholders, to advance sustainability that is friendly to the environment and the local people.
